The whipper Kachinas accompany the Crow Mother Kachina and whip the Hopi boys with their yucca whips as the boys become men and are initiated. Next, they whip themselves, then the Crow Mother. And if you should happen to be there watching, beware!

  1. Beware is right. His mouth and eyes are letting us know; He is ready to deal with what must be done and don’t get in his way. Determined and still cute. It looks like fire and an angel on his forehead with and arrow pointing downward. Can you tell me what this stands for?
