When Nataska, Chaveyo, and Soyok Mana, the terrifying monster Kachinas, come to collect children who have behaved badly during the past year, only the Grandmas can save the little miscreants from being thrown into the burden baskets on the ogres’ backs, to be taken down to the base of the mesa and eaten! A tug of war, a screaming child, a pleading, negotiating Grandma, and finally, a compromise. A box of groceries and promises of good behavior are finally enough to satisfy the ogres.
