Composition with Two Apples and a Lemon

Watercolor / 6 x 9 inches

This is one from a group of set ups that I arranged several years ago, with an eye to doing a series of still life paintings. Well, that is exactly what I have done, although over a much longer period of time than I originally expected. As it turnes out, these ideas lie fallow for long stretches of time, then, when the time is just right, they pop up in front of me and demand to be painted.

  1. Isn’t it strange they have never found out what country the lemon started. If it hadn’t been for Johnny Appleseed we may never have had apples in this country. Lemons and apples have always been a very important part of our diet. The colors are really showing appreciative art and beauty.
