We started the day with the house special French Toast at El Correo. Afterwards, we visited Tom and Donna Dickson's Gallery above the Jardin. Donna was getting ready to teach a watercolor workshop, but we managed to squeeze in a nice visit. They have a great space with room for 15 or so students, but it is at the top of some fairly tortuous stairs.

We then spent the rest of the day exploring the area south and east of the Jardin. That means shopping. But not necessarily buying. We finished by relaxing with a beer in a sidewalk cafe across from the Jardin, then caught a cab out to Pollo Feliz (Happy Chicken), a large, fast, grilled chicken restaurant and picked up dinner to take back to Casa Laura. While feasting on that savory bird and saving the best, the drumstick, for last, suddenly, the sunlight, coming through a window struck that drumstick just so, and I knew immediately that i had found the subject for today's painting.

I believe it was Lautrec's mother who said, when he had painted a duck, that he had celebrated it by way of the gun, the brush, and the fork.

Steve and Jackie came in from Chimayo just after dinner, and we all had cocktails and an enjoyable evening visiting on the terrace at Casa Laura.

Yet another nice, slow day, in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato.

¡Hasta Mañana!
