LAST DAY OF SUMMER / Daily Painting #1414

Last Day of Summer / Ink and Watercolor / 7 x 10 Inches / Daily Painting #1414

As many of you may already know, we have been in Phoenix for the past several days. You may not have known, however, the reason we were there. Thea had eye surgery for a rapidly advancing glaucoma in her right eye on Monday, following tests earlier in the week. The surgery went well, and we will know more after six weeks, when she will be tested again.

After the surgery she was free to return home, and feeling just mild discomfort, so we headed home. As we rose above the lingering heat of the valley, and passed Payson on our way through Zane Grey country up to the top of the Mogollon Rim, the tall Ponderosa Pines silhouetted against the last clouds of the summer monsoons, demanded to be painted.

  1. These are all so beautiful John. Loved the Santos, the Sandias, “Cowboy, Cadiz, Lisa’s corrals, and English saddle,,,and now these beautiful trees. We’ve had a great trip so far. Tell Thea to look after herself & all the best with that eye.

  2. Thanks to this wonderful daily painter…He took good care of my need for emergency travel and did not miss a beat even though each day was a challenge to find internet service to post the daily painting and good light to paint by. John you ROCK!

  3. Sending all our love to you two great friends. So glad Thea came through the surgery process successfully. You know my prayers have been, and are with you. Lovely Last Day! I am sort of glad for autumn! Get well Thea!

  4. This painting is proof, very proud and happy for the way everything turned out. These colors shows the beautiful end of summer, getting ready for autumn. Time moves on and has restful ways showing in the process. My prayers are with you and Thea.
