FLOWER SHOP, GAUCÍN, SPAIN / Daily Painting #1296

Flower Shop, Gaucín, Spain / Ink and Watercolor / 6 x 9 Inches

Gaucín is one of the beautiful white villages, los Pueblos Blancos, scattered like jewels across southern Spain's Andalucia autonomous region. It was here that I spent the night recently with our good friends, Peggy and Steve Immel, noted painter and photographer, respectively, from Taos. They had rented a delightful small apartment in the heart of Gaucín, home of a number of expat artists.

Now, to today's painting, Wash Day on the Road to Ronda, a scene I encountered while traveling from Vejer de la Frontera to Ronda, on Spain's route of the Pueblos Blancos, the White Villages of Andalusia.

SPANISH WINDMILL / Daily Painting #960

Oil on Paper Mounted on Panel / 6 x 6 Inches

This is the recently restored windmill, San Jose, in Vejer de la Frontera, one of the beautiful Pueblos Blancos (White Villages) of Andalusian Spain. Vejer is my favorite of the pueblos, partly, I'm sure, because it was my first. But also because, while less spectacular than Ronda, or Arcos, it is quite beautiful, yet far less tourist oriented.

It's a dream of mine to return to paint and photograph all the Pueblos Blancos. Maybe this fall? We'll see.

NOTE! I have a special new WORKSHOP coming up in July. Click HERE for details. I hope you can join us.
