EARL, HORSEMAN

Earl. Not only a horseman, king of the dancehall, too, and ladies’ man. A real Taos character, and a friend.

CAUGHT BY THE LIGHT II, SELF PORTRAIT / Daily Painting #1297

Ink and Watercolor / 6 x 9 Inches / Click to Enlarge

So, another stab at a self portrait. I don’t understand why the ink took over and came so dark. Anyway, I think it’s a better likeness than the last one, although it’s really about the light, more than it is the person.

THE LIGHT, THE BITE / Daily Painting #959

Oil on Paper Mounted on Panel / 6 x 6 Inches

Another in my EVERYDAY PEOPLE SERIES, this woman struck me as interesting due to the dramatic way the harsh light revealed her features. Add to that the familiar gesture of pausing before taking a bite of food, and she becomes a subject suggesting a story.

NOTE! I have a special new WORKSHOP coming up in July. Click HERE for details. I hope you can join us.
