A FRENCH COW / Daily Painting #1289

A French Cow / Ink and Watercolor / 6 x 9 Inches

My computer and my iPad are deeply involved in transferring, storing, and backing up the thousands of images from my just concluded trip to Mexico and Spain, and will be for some time.

Since I can't access the images from this trip, and can't use ArtRage3 with the iPad occupied, I decided to turn to a subject from an earlier trip, to France. And that now was as good a time as any to dip back into watercolor. So, here you have it.

If you would like to own today's painting, send your bid (Minimum $200) in an email to: farnsworthgallery@newmex.com, or call Thea at 505 982-4561.

MASCARA TORO II / Daily Painting #1226

Here's a companion piece for Mascara Toro, the earlier piece based on a Mexican Dance Mask from the beautiful Galeria Atotonilco to visit the amazing home, museum and showroom, all rolled into one. Works representing the crafts of all areas of Mexico, including textiles, masks, ceramics, paintings, sculpture, and more fill the museum. Fantastic.

We had a slow day today. We got off to a late start, but had a nice lunch at the previously mentioned little bistro/café the name of which still escapes me. We walked around, exploring some new streets, sat for a while in the Jardin, people watching, then ended up at the Instituto Allende, for a nice dinner and some stirring Flamenco.

A nice, slow day, ending with a great date in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato.

¡Hasta Mañana!

MASCARA TORO / Daily Painting #1223

With Kay as our driver and guide, we drove out to the beautiful Galeria Atotonilco to visit the amazing home, museum and showroom, all rolled into one. Works representing the crafts of all areas of Mexico, including textiles, masks, ceramics, paintings, sculpture, and more fill the museum. Fantastic.

We then drove on to Dolores Hidalgo for a very good lunch, followed by ice cream on the main plaza, and a bit of shopping in the town's famous tile stores.

Another great day in the State of Guanajuato.

¡Hasta Mañana!

WAKAS (COW KACHINA) Daily Painting #1035

Oil on Paper Mounted on Panel / 6 x 6 Inches

Wakas is the Hopi take on the Spanish word for cattle, vacas. This is definitely a rare version of the Cow Kachina. But an intriguing one.

Last night in Wickenburg was cold, it rained most of the night, and the wind rocked ol' Betsy like a cradle. I was up early and off to the parade, where I photographed non stop for about two hours, then to the Seven Bar Cafe, downtown, where I snagged a parking spot, for a lunch of fried chicken and mashed potatoes (an exception, but what the heck, it was cold and I've been behaving for days).

By the time I finished lunch, it was time for the rodeo and another two and a half or three non stop shooting hours. It was so cold, and I'd been standing on uneven ground for so long, that when I turned to leave I could hardly walk, and must have looked like some doddering old man. And I'm not even 72, yet!

I reported right to Betsy and, because there was no time to download any of the day's research, I painted this Longhorn Study that I've been sneaking up on ever since I visited my friend and ace mechanic Austin Stockdale's place on the ranch in Victorville.

Tomorrow is going to be a long day of catching up on image management, probably in the library, if it's open.
