Our dear friend and collector Melissa surprised Thea with a pair of beautiful, tiny Fozen Charlotte Dolls. At some point in the confusion of the move from the Santa Fe studio to Taos, I managed to grab a couple of quick snaps of them with my iPhone. While looking through my images, I zoomed in for a better look, and this composition took me by surprise. i thought, Wow, I gotta paint that!

The idea kept bouncing around in my head all during the rest of the move until, finally, tonight, I got the chance to paint her.

While most Frozen Charlotte dolls were made in Germany, this pair is marked Made in Japan. I’m told that they were sold in candy stores for a penny, and that most were girl dolls so owning a pair was extra special.
