A lively conversation on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, France.
EARL, HORSEMAN
Earl. Not only a horseman, king of the dancehall, too, and ladies’ man. A real Taos character, and a friend.

STREET PHOTOGRAPHY
I love taking photographs of just about anything.
But I especially love Street Photography.
I love people watching.
I love recording the life around me, wherever I am; city, town, village, or countryside; wandering the streets, roads,or alleyways, parks and beaches of a place foreign or familiar, new to me or old, outdoors or in.
The human condition. That’s what interests me, captivates me, insists that I capture it, record it, share it. People being people. In their native habitat, candid, unposed, real. Being themselves. Happy, sad, working, playing, talking, relating, smiling, laughing, crying, staring into space or the past or the future. Or the eyes of a loved one, or a pet. Just being.
I love thinking about them. Who they are, where they’ve been, where they’re going, what they’re planning, or doing. I love causing others to wonder the same.
That, to me, is Street Photography.

OLD MAN, JEREZ / Daily Painting #1269
Old Man, Jerez / Painted on my iPad Air / ArtRage3
Just a quick character study tonight. Time to catch up on matters technical. Downloading, uploading, charging, etc.
had a great day, walked a lot, watched a lot of people, saw a lot of the city, got thoroughly lost at least once, finally got a large, delicious cup of coffee, and at long last, found my way to some excellent Flamenco after sitting in on about an hour and a half of a very interesting Flamenco class.
Now to the tech stuff.
¡Hasta Mañana!
CALAVERA CHARRO / Daily Painting #1217
Calavera Charro / Watercolor and Ink / 6 x 9 inches
Casa Laura, where we are staying with our dear friends Gari and Kayce, in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, is awash in Katrinas and Calaveras. Of course I will be sharing some of them with you. This Charro and his Señorita are dancing in a nicho in the stairwell, and they are, so far, my favorites.
We went into the center of town today, for lunch, I had chiles en nogado, a meal I especially enjoy, amd the rest had enchiladas in mole poblano. Next, we went to the Jardin to watch children running through the crowd, smashing eggshells filled with colorful confetti on each other's heads and even occasionally on the heads of adults seated on the benches surrounding the park. Gari and Thea, for instance. By the end of the day the plaza was covered solid in eggshells and confetti, all a colorful part of Carnaval in San Miguel de Allende.
The evening found us huddled around plates of macaroni salad and roast chicken while watching the Oscars.
A beautiful and thoroughly enjoyable first day in SMA!
¡Hasta Mañana!
