SUMMER IN PROVENCE / Daily Painting #1316

Summer in Provence / Oil on Paper Mounted on Panel / 6 x 6 Inches / Click on the Image to Enlarge

I had just finished teaching a workshop at the 17th Century farmhouse, le Petit-Rousset just outside Eymet, France, five years ago, and was on my way from Bordeaux to Arles to see the Gypsies at Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer and the white horses of the Camargue, when I spotted this scene from the window of the train. Since then, I have come across it several times while browsing through my research. Every time, I have wanted to paint it. I even tried it once in watercolor and made a real mess of it. But today, when I saw it again, i knew its time had come. And I knew it had to be an oil. So I did it, and I think I finally got it.

Today’s painting is available to the highest bidder. Bidding will end 24 hours after the painting is posted to this blog.

Following the 24 hour bidding, if unsold, it will be available for $300 USD until it goes into a gallery, where the full retail price will be $650 USD.

If you would like to own today’s painting, send your bid in an email to: farnsworthgallery@newmex.com, or call Thea at 505 982-4561.
