MOUSE / Daily Painting #996

Oil on Paper Mounted on Panel / 6 x 6 Inches

I sat back in my office chair, and there was a found still life just begging to be painted. I grabbed my iPhone and captured some quick research shots. The contrast of the new, shiny, hard plastic mouse, so technologically iconic, contrasts narurally with the warm angular wood of the antique desk. The composition was exciting and with that red-orange scrolling wheel for an accent, the whole thing was simply irresistable.

A SMALL BAND OF NAVAJO SHEEP Daily Painting #836

A SMALL BAND OF NAVAJO SHEEP

Oil on Panel / 6 x 6 Inches

I slept late, then spent the rest of the morning on housekeeping. That's when I really appreciate the limited size of a VW van. As it appeared the sky would be overcast most of the day, I decided this would be a good time to visit the Living Desert Zoo and Botanical Garden as the animals wouldn't be hiding away from the bright sun, and photography would be much better with less contrast.

Well, it seems most of the animals were hiding from the clouds. Or the people. Diana Tolerico, a long-time, full-time camper whose blog I follow posted several pictures and a description a few days ago that convinced me to check it out.

See my favorite shot of the day when you click over to my daily photographs. It may surprise you.
