RANCHOS MORNING / Daily Painting #1004

Oil on Paper Mounted on Panel / 6 x 6 Inches

Thea and I were having breakfast in the garden yesterday, when I noticed that the light, though subtle, was sculpting the scene before me, the view across the valley of the Rio Grande del Rancho, in a more pronounced way than in the usual, flattened version. I knew instantly that this would have to be my painting for today.

An alternate title might have been First Day of Summer, Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico. Nah, too long.

Be the winning bidder on last Wednesday's painting, PAINTED BISON SKULL, #1000, and help us celebrate this milestone by accepting our invitation to Taos, New Mexico and our home for two days and a night.

Be treated to a free one-day workshop, a photography walkabout, or a driveabout. Your choice. Or just kick back and relax. It's up to you.

We will do all we can to make this a visit to remember.

To bid, email farnsworthgallery@newmex.com, or call Thea at 505 982-4561.

You have until midnite on Wednesday, the 26th, to bid!

But wait, there's more…

As a special thank you to all the wonderful collectors, friends and followers who, through their support and encouragement, have made this blog a success, I'm offering a name your price week. Starting with Thursday's painting, and running for one week only, I am removing the $200.00 minimum. Bid anything you like. The first bid received wins!

So bid today, and be sure to check back tomorrow!

POT CARRIER MAN KACHINA II (SIVU-I-QILTAQA) Daily Painting #248

Pot Carrier Man Kachina / Oil on Panel / 6 x 6 Inches

I PAINT KACHINAS BECAUSE:

they are there.
they are beautiful.
they are a part of me.
they are timeless and enduring.
they are intriguing and mysterious.
they are powerful and evocative and alive.
they are carved and textured and painted and aged.
they are feathered and masked and costumed or unclothed.
they are primordial and sophisticated and speak of other worlds.
they are carriers of messages and of prayers and bringers of rain and life.
they are subtle and complex, terrifying and comforting, animal, man, spirit, cloud.
they are hope and fear, promise and admonition, deliverance and instruction, comfort and song.
they are of the earth and of the sky and of the air and of the water that flows through every thing.

Bidding has ended. If you missed this or any of our other daily paintings, be sure to visit our Collectors’ Exchange page.
