COWGIRL

When I met this little sweetie at Cowboy Camp, she shook my hand, tipped her hat back, looked me in the eye and said, “I can ride anything with hair on it!” Check out those wooly angora chaps!

As mentioned previously, I was there recently with @steveimmel and @stevenbundy photographing National Day of the Cowboy on the Mortenson Ranch.

SIBLINGS

Another shot from Cowboy Camp.

SANTA FE PLAZA

Candid street photography, using an iPhone, is even possible from the window of a car, if you're stopped in traffic, as I was one day just before my recent trip to Mexico.

Until tomorrow…

CHILD OF THE CHARREADA

Panasonic Lumix DMC – FZ30 / ACDSee Pro 6

Once again, a dive back into the archives of When a Painter Snaps:

I sometimes think the best part of my photographing rodeos, Charreadas (Mexican rodeos), and Jineteadas (Argentinian rodeos), and other horse events, is the children. There's something charming, beautiful and inherently wholesome about these children of the equine world.

This young lady rides in the opening ceremony with her big sister who is about to perform in Escaramusa, the side-saddle, all girl precision drill team.

Hasta mañana.

TIME TO SHARE A PHOTO OR TWO

THE PINK BOW

iPhone 6 Plus / Process / PhotoForge 2

Evening in the Plaza de la Independencia, Madrid, Mexico

iPhone 6 Plus / Process / PhotoForge 2

I can't take all the credit for these two shots. Apperently, I had somehow managed to bump something on my iPhone, bringing in an included filter called Process. Messed up a lot of shots, but made these interesting, though too cold. I warmed them up a bit in PhotoForge 2, and cropped them. Added just a little vignette, and here they are.

These sellers of embroidered goods ply the streets and plazas day and night. This young girl is the most beautiful I've seen.

Time for dinner. Hasta Mañana.

Currently, I'm wrestling with just how I want to continue this blog. As you may know by now, I have really loved and thoroughly enjoyed the daily 6 x 6 inch paintings. And the recent Confections have really been a blast. But I am missing the chance to do more of these full-fledged watercolors. I would occasionlly like to work larger, too.

So. here's my thinking at the moment. I'm thinking I will switch from the current format of always doing the same size and the same beginning bid, or, as has been the case with the Confections, one price fits all, regardless of size or complexity, to a more varied approach. One that fits not only my love of varied sibjects and styles, but differing sizes and mediums, as well.

I will be offering everything from tiny sketches to full sheet watercolors, to both smaller and larger oils, and just about everything in between. I hope it will be more entertaining than confusing, and that you will all continue to follow along.

By the way, I hope to be traveling again, soon, and will try to make my verbal input more interesting as my adventures unfold.

I hope you will all help me with this, because I would love to hear your thoughts. I appreciate each and every comment, as well as your bids! Please, don't be shy, join in. Let's make this blog as interesting as it can be, together.

GIRL ON BACK / Daily Painting #1056

Pen / Ink / Watercolor / 6 x 6 inches

Or as the Gauchos in Argentina say, China Ancha. China is the word the Gauchos use when referring to their beautiful women, and ancha is Spanish for haunch.

This is number seven in this popular new “Confections” series. I'm having a great time with these, and apparently so are many of you. Be the first person in with a $100 bid, and it's yours! That's right, the first hundred takes it. Don't wait!
