ABANDONED

Abandoned church, Holman, New Mexico.

PROMISE

Simply the view from my office window. The weather is warm, the breezes are cool. Life is, indeed, grand!

TAOS MOUNTAIN LAST LIGHT

Until tomorrow…

SAND HILLS OF NORTHERN NEW MEXICO

Early Spring along the Rio Grande, between Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico.

Until tomorrow…

MORNING MEMORY

When I awoke this morning, I looked out our bedroom window, as I do every morning. But this morning I did something else. I reached for my iPhone and took this snapshot while still in bed. Not much of a photograph, but still a darned pretty picture. Proof again of Chase Jarvis's saying, “the best camera is the camera you have with you”.

We're expecting a cold turn in the weather, with snow on the way. All this color will be just a memory before we know it.

Hmmm, it's Springtime in Buenos Aires…

Hasta mañana.

THE GOING AND COMING TREE / Daily Painting #1327

The Coming and Going Tree / Watercolor / 6 x 9 Inches / To magnify, touch the Image.

This lone tree stands as a guardian beside the highway leading into and out of Taos. It welcomes us home, and it promises adventure as we leave. Thea noticed on our last return, that it has died. How long will it stand?

LA BAJADA / Daily Painting #949

Oil on Paper Mounted on Panel / 6 x 6 Inches

One day, after driving Thea to Albuquerque to catch a flight to Phoenix to visit her sister, I headed north. Midway back to Santa Fe, I took a road off to the right that I'd long been curious about. The road turned south and ducked under the old Santa Fe railroad (now the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe) tracks, then around again to the east. Grazing cattle, a couple of wild horses and beautful blood purple blooming staghorn cholla beneath a wild and stormy, rain and promise filled sky, made for a fun photo interlude. This little painting, too is from that enjoyable afternoon, watching the traffic hurrying up and down La Bajada in the distance, oblivious, in their rush, to all the beauty, magestic and simple, so nearby.

NOTE! I have a special new WORKSHOP coming up in July. Click HERE for details. I hope you can join us.
